Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Minster, or the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln and sometimes St Mary's Cathedral, in Lincoln, England, is a Grade I listed cathedral and is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Lincoln. The Cathedral is approx. 950 years old supposed to have started being built in 1072 and took around 20 years to complete. The Cathedral is reputed to be the 5th Largest in the UK and was once the tallest spired church in the world until its centre spire was blown down in a storm in 1548. after a 250 year reign it was no longer the worlds tallest building. A fire in 1141 destroyed the roof of the Cathedral and it was decided to enlarge the structure at this date and an earthquake destroyed most of the building in 1185.
